What Is the 2026–2027 Enhanced ACT?
The Enhanced ACT is a shorter version of the ACT designed to reduce test fatigue while still measuring college-ready skills in English, Math, and Reading. Science and Writing may be optional depending on the test administration and school requirements.

How ACT Scores Work in 2026–2027
Each required ACT section is scored from 1 to 36. For the Enhanced ACT, the Composite score is based on English, Math, and Reading. Science and Writing may be reported separately when taken, but they do not always affect the Composite score.
There is no penalty for wrong answers, so students should answer every question. Leaving blanks can only reduce your chance of earning points.
